How to Get Bright, White, Beautiful Teeth & A Gleaming Smile within Minutes!”
You know that old saying “smile and the world smiles with you?”
But in most cases people are self conscious about their smiles. That is because of the dull, yellow or discolored teeth they sport. If you have been waiting for a picture perfect smile then you have come to the right place.
I’m Dr. Prasad, and I’ve had the privilege of giving people their dream smile. In spite of brushing and flossing your teeth regularly, it will lose its brightness over time. Your teeth are porous and hence absorb the color of foods and beverages that we consume. This causes the enamel to become dull or discolored.
Other factors such as caffeine, gum disease, tobacco and tooth decay can aggravate the condition.
But I have some good news for you. Tooth whitening is the procedure that can render marvelous effect and improve the aesthetic value of your smile. Teeth Whitening procedures can actually remove the stains in your tooth enamel without harming your teeth rendering you a white, bright, and sparkling smile.
Now the question arises as to which procedure is right for you? Let’s find out…
“How effective are Whitening Toothpastes?”
Studies reveal that people spend a lot of money on whitening toothpastes that promise to remove stains. But as a professional dentist with many, many years of experience, I feel that they are a BIG waste of money and have no significant whitening ability. In other words, instead of spending your hard earned money on expensive toothpastes, you can go in for much more effective treatments that give you desired results. I’ll tell you what these are in a moment, but first, I want to share with you…
“Ineffective Whitening Treatments…”
Whitening treatments can make your smile five to seven shades brighter depending on the method used and discoloration of your teeth. Whitening Solutions that are available at most drug stores are easy to use. They come in a nail polish-type container with a wand. You need to brush the gel onto your teeth for sometime ranging from a few hours to overnight. When left on the teeth for a long time it might mix with your saliva and may come off. Most of these whitening gels contain glycerin that may cause tooth sensitivity.
Plastic whitening strip kits are also available that are coated with a whitening gel on one side. They are of two different sizes meant for the upper and lower teeth. The strips need to be retained for 40 minutes a day. But the disadvantage of the method is that it sometimes leaves uneven white patches on your teeth. Also it contains very little whitening agent (usually peroxide) and need reapplication to get a decent result.
There’s got to be a better way…
Bleaching tray kit is yet another method of getting whiter teeth. They are available at the drug store or you can get them at the dentist’s office. The bleaching kit that is available at the drug store contains a set of plastic mouth trays which has to be put in hot water and then you need to bite down. This makes the trays “molded” to your bite. All you need to do is apply a little whitening gel in the tray and let them sit for a few hours (or overnight). The process needs to be repeated for several weeks to get a whiter smile. The main disadvantage of these kits is that the mouth plastic trays aren’t custom fitted. As such there are chances of the gel oozing out and getting ingested which is harmful for your health. Also these whitening kits contain only a small amount of peroxide or other whitening agent and take a long time( and several kits) to get the desired results.
Whitening kits that are available at the dentist’s are much better off as they contain higher percentage of the whitening agent and hence require less number of applications to achieve desired results. The dentist can also make sure that the trays are custom fitted to provide better whitening quality which may last one to two years.
In office teeth whitening is by far the most popular professional treatment method. A concentrated gel containing peroxide is applied to the teeth. Then, the gel is activated by scanning each tooth with a beam of light. This causes the tooth enamel to release any stain or discoloration. This type of whitening is painless, hassle free, highly effective, and usually takes about an hour. But it is more expensive when compared to other whitening methods. But the benefits of whitening make it worth the money ten times over!
